Feifengshan,
at an elevation of 423.5 meters, is
Chiuchiungshan’s highest peak.
Feifengshan
means”flying phoenix mountain”. This
peak earned its name because of its
shape, a phoenix with its wings down,
as on descent. On Feifengshan are plum
trees, azaleas and flame trees. The
scenery changes according to the time
of year. In this area are the Yunku
Temple, Taichuan Temple, Kanying Bridge,
Hsinfeng Pond, Lien
Pond, etc. A trail
passes through cool green forest-walk
along it to escape the summer
heat.
On Feifengshan, the many flame trees
bloom in summer, turning the whole area
dark red.
In
winter, the plum blossoms turn this
area snow white, making it one of the
8 most scenic spots in Hsinchu County.
In the hills
behind, the county government is developing
trails for hiking and observing the
scenery.
